Private Relay is an Internet Privacy feature introduced with iOS 15 and by default enabled with new releases of Apple operating systems and available for all iCloud+ subscribers.
Normally when you browse the web, the information contained in your web traffic, such as your DNS records and IP address, can be seen by your network provider and the websites you visit. When Private Relay is enabled, your requests are sent through two separate, secure internet relays.
- Your IP address is visible to your network provider and to the first relay, which is operated by Apple. Your DNS records are encrypted, so neither party can see the website address you’re trying to visit.
- The second relay, which a third-party content provider operates, generates a temporary IP address, decrypts the name of the website you requested, and connects you to the site.
Because of how the Private Relay works our customers can experience some issues with their service, all of them will be related to the feature of PR - the location of the 2nd relay is unknown - it may be located in the country that is blacklisted for security reasons. To solve the "issues" Private Relay has to be disabled and unfortunately, there is no "workaround".
- ALL CUSTOMERS: May experience problems with access to Control app and their account via web browsers.
- HOME PACKAGE: Customers WON'T be able to use TV apps at all, as technically, their devices report that they are NOT in their home network.
- PLUS PACKAGE: Customers may experience problems with their TV apps.
