How do I test my Internet bandwidth/speed?

To ensure you are receiving the correct bandwidth speeds from your u-mee connection, we suggest doing a speed test from the web.

In order to get an accurate speed test result, you must conduct the test from a computer or device with an ethernet port that is directly connected to the u-mee router (not via powerline plugs or a network switch) and that is capable of speeds beyond 100mbps. Speed tests over Wi-Fi are highly unreliable due to the many external factors that can impact the signal.

We suggest doing all speed tests at the following link - SpeedTest Net. Please make sure to select u-mee Networks Ltd as the server in order to get accurate results.

At the time of the test, also please ensure that no devices are consuming large amounts of bandwidth - no online gaming, on-demand TV streaming services or large file downloads.

If you would like to check your connection to verify which speed you are receiving from u-mee you can do this by looking at the upload speed result. If your upload is:

  • 10mbps = Standard 100mpbs connection

  • 20mbps = Family 200mbps connection

  • 30mbps = Family 300mbps connection

If you download speed is not progressing past the 100mbps limit but you should be receiving a higher speed, this could be because your network card is not capable of speeds above the 100mbps. you will have to look into the specifications of the device you are testing on to ensure that your device can handle these high speeds. (Tests conducted from gaming devices such as Xbox/PS4 are not accurate as they go through their own servers first).

If you feel that your speeds are incorrect you can submit a ticket here. In order to resolve your problem quickly, it is always helpful to include a screenshot of the speed test results for us to look at.
